To collect, preserve, and share the stories of members of the United States' Queer community who chose to seek safety in another country, between 2016 and the present, because they believed government actions threatened their civil rights.

Collect the stories of why members of the Queer community and their families chose to leave the United States in search of safety in another country, told in their own words.
Preserve these stories to create a historical record of this phenomenon, documenting it as it unfolds, particularly as it relates to the Queer community and experiences that are not being covered by news media in the United States.
Share these stories with the world through this website and social media to shed light on their search for safety, while supporting and encouraging others who may be considering similar journeys.

The Stories
The following stories are shared in the words of the individuals and families themselves. They have not been edited and are posted exactly as they were received by Project QueerFlight.
Some storytellers have also shared photographs from their journeys, which are included alongside their stories whenever possible.
Stories are organized by the country in which the individuals or families now reside. We hope this makes it easier for others to explore experiences from places they may be considering for their own journeys.
